Fastest Pickup Trucks That Scream Luxury and Dominance
Just because it’s a pickup truck doesn’t mean it needs to be slow. Many trucks are surprisingly light when they’re not loaded down, giving them an impressive power-to-weight ratio. While trucks are usually built for hauling heavy loads with plenty of low-end torque and appropriate gearing, now and then, manufacturers surprise us by giving their most utilitarian models a serious boost in acceleration and speed.
Look at our list of the five fastest pickup trucks out there. When we say “the fastest trucks,” we talk about their overall top speed. And if two trucks had the same top speed, we broke the tie by looking at their quarter-mile times. From powerful street trucks to desert-crushing off-road beasts, luxury pickups, and even electric trucks, these top 5 are not just fast for a truck—they’re fast by any measure.
5 Fastest Pickup Trucks In The World
1. 2025 GMC Hummer EV Pickup
- 0-60: 3.3 Seconds
- Horsepower: 1,000
- Torque: 1,200 LB-FT
- Top Speed: 106 mph
- Price: $98,845
If you thought Hummers were all about going big, wait until you see the Hummer EV pickup. It’s not just the most expensive truck on this list but also the heaviest—it’s a whopping 9,000 lbs! Most of that weight comes from its massive battery, which takes its sweet time to charge, even with fast DC chargers. And if you’re into bold designs, this truck has got you covered with its flashy look and serious power.
With all that heft, you might expect it to tow like a champ—and you’d be right. The Hummer EV can handle up to 7,500 lbs, which is pretty impressive. Despite feeling like you’re driving a small house, this beast cranks out an astonishing 1,000 horsepower. Hit the Watts-To-Freedom (WTF) button and dash to 60 in just 3.3 seconds. The top speed is capped at 106 mph, which is probably a good thing. Just imagine the challenge of braking from that speed in such a heavy truck!
Under the hood, or rather under the chassis, it’s got three electric motors, with two nestled on the rear axle. This setup allows for some advanced rear differential magic, making off-roading a whole new adventure. Yet, even with 1,000 hp, it’s not enough to crown it the fastest pickup truck on this list. But it sure makes a memorable statement on and off the road.
2. 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R
- 0-60: 3.6 Seconds (est.)
- Horsepower: 720
- Torque: 640 LB-FT
- Top Speed: 112 mph
- Price: $80,435
Imagine a truck that’s so much fun and packs such a punch that you’d think it was banned ages ago. Meet the Ford F-150 Raptor, the full-size F-150 that’s been beefed up on creatine, heavy lifting, and probably a few cans of Bang Energy drink. This beast cranks out 450 horsepower from a twin-turbocharged V-6 engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Then there’s the Raptor R, the bodybuilder of the family, roaring with a whopping 720 horsepower thanks to its supercharged V-8. It’s like having a muscle car in a truck’s body. With its Fox Dual Live Valve dampers and long-travel suspension (and plenty of available truck accessories of course), the Raptor makes tearing over rough terrain feel like floating on marshmallows. And even when it’s not pretending to be a WRC rally car on ORV trails, the ride is so smooth you’d swear you were in a high-end luxury SUV.
These days, high-horsepower pickups are a rare breed. The 702-horsepower Ram 1500 TRX is being discontinued, leaving the Raptor’s main competition as the somewhat lesser-known but mighty 835-horsepower all-electric Rivian R1T. Just to give you a sense of speed, the last V-6 Raptor tested by CarandDriver hit 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. But the Raptor R rockets to 60 mph in a jaw-dropping 3.6 seconds. And get this – they haven’t even tested the updated version yet, which packs an extra 20 horsepower.
3. 2024 Ram 1500 TRX
- 0-60: 3.7 Seconds
- Horsepower: 702
- Torque: 650 LB-FT
- Top Speed: 118 mph
- Price: $98,335
Picture this: you’re standing on a muddy off-road vehicle trail, and you hear a beast-like snarl from beyond the crest. But this isn’t just any wild animal; it’s the fiercely fast 702-hp Ram 1500 TRX. Under its hood, a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine guzzles fuel like it’s drinking from a garden hose. The truck’s eight-speed automatic transmission shifts gears seamlessly, while its four-wheel drive system powers through even the toughest terrains.
The TRX doesn’t have many rivals, but it keeps an eye on two formidable predators: the 700-hp Ford F-150 Raptor R and the all-electric Rivian R1T, one of the fastest pickup trucks ever tested by Car and Driver. Sadly, 2024 marks the end of the line for the TRX. Ram has announced this year will be its last, though there’s a silver lining. A new twin-turbo V-6 model called the RHO will be rolling out as a 2025 pickup.
In tests, the TRX amazed us by hitting 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and finishing the quarter-mile in 12.3 seconds at 110 mph, earning even the fastest pickup truck 2023 title. As a final hurrah, Ram is offering a Final Edition for 2024, but with only 4,000 units being produced, it’s going to be a rare sight.
4. 2025 Rivian R1T
- 0-60: less than 2.5 Seconds (claimed)
- Horsepower: 1,025
- Torque: 1,198 LB-FT
- Top Speed: 130 mph
- Price: $71,700
If you’re drawn to pickup trucks with a strong, understated vibe, the Rivian R1T is a treat for the senses. Its rugged yet laid-back interior strikes a balance between utility and leisure, while its innovative cross-truck tunnel offers ample lockable storage that’s discreetly tucked away. With standard all-wheel drive and air suspension, it’s built to handle some off-road challenges. The 2025 R1T may look slightly different, but it boasts a range of hardware updates designed to enhance performance across the board.
The new electrical system reduces weight by cutting down on wiring, and all three battery options have been updated. Horsepower now peaks at 1025—an increase of 190 over the previous model—enabling the already impressive quad-motor version to reach 60 mph in a claimed “less than 2.5 seconds.” This performance rivals and even slightly surpasses that of some high-end sports cars like the Porsche 911 GT3.
Despite its blazing speed, the R1T remains a substantial pickup, offering practical bed space, seating for five, a range of up to 420 miles, and a maximum 220-kW DC fast-charging capability. These features make it a highly versatile and practical choice with few drawbacks. Although competitors like the Ford F-150 Lightning and Chevrolet Silverado EV are emerging, the Rivian R1T was first to market and its diverse capabilities earn it a spot on C/D’s 2024 Editors’ Choice list.
The motoring magazine hasn’t yet tested a 2025 R1T with its gear, but the 2024 Quad-Motor model hit 60 mph in just 3.0 seconds at their test track. With the power boost, Rivian’s claim of the 2025 R1T achieving 60 mph in “less than 2.5 seconds” seems plausible. The 2024 Dual-Motor version accelerated to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, still exceptionally fast for a pickup, and completed the quarter mile in 11.1 seconds.
5. 2024 Tesla Cybertruck
- 0-60: 2.6 Seconds
- Horsepower: 834
- Torque: 740 LB-FT
- Top Speed: 130 mph
- Price: $81,895
The 2024 Tesla Cybertruck turns heads—it looks like it just rolled in from a sci-fi movie. But don’t let its out-of-this-world appearance fool you; it’s got the chops to give top pickup trucks a serious run for their money. With its sharp-edged, stainless-steel body that’s also claimed to be bulletproof, Tesla’s electric truck means serious business.
For 2024, Tesla is offering two all-wheel-drive versions: a powerful 600-hp Dual Motor model and a Beast model packing a whopping 834 horsepower from three electric motors. If you can wait until 2025, there’s also a single-motor rear-wheel-drive Cybertruck set to join the party. Imagine towing up to 11,000 pounds with ease and enjoying an estimated driving range of up to 340 miles on a single charge. Hook it up to a Tesla Supercharger, and you can add between 128 and 136 miles of range in just 15 minutes. Talk about convenience!
How fast can these beasts go? The 600-hp Dual Motor model is expected to rocket from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds and hit a maximum velocity of 112 mph. While we haven’t tested that one yet, we did get behind the wheel of the 834-hp tri-motor Beast. It zoomed to 60 mph in a blistering 2.6 seconds, making it the quickest truck—and the fourth-quickest EV—C/D ever tested. It even completed the quarter-mile in 11.0 seconds at 119 mph. Amazingly, these results match Tesla’s claims perfectly.
